Children

At our nursery school, every child is celebrated for who they are! Our dedicated teachers ensure each little one receives the love, guidance, and individual attention they need, making sure every word, action and achievement feels valued and important.

We understand how important comfort and care are during the transition into a new environment, especially when it comes to saying goodbye in the mornings. We strive to provide a nurturing space where children feel safe, loved and supported, easing the process for both families and little ones. On the first morning, we warmly welcome families to come inside, explore the school and help their child settle in. For the following mornings, we recommend a quick and cheerful drop-off.

To make the transition smoother, always be honest with your child about leaving and returning, offering big hugs and cuddles before saying goodbye. Keep your farewells short and sweet, maintaining a confident and positive environment. Children take their cues from you, when they see you trust the environment and the teachers, it helps them feel secure. At home, speak positively about the school and the teachers, sharing happy, encouraging stories. This builds trust and excitement in your child, laying the foundation for a happy and confident start to their school journey.

We encourage interactive play by creating a vibrant, engaging environment where children can explore, connect and learn together. Through group activities, imaginative role-play and hands-on games, we inspire curiosity and teamwork in a fun and playful way. Our teachers carefully guide these interactions to help children build social skills, share ideas and form friendships, all while ensuring every moment is filled with laughter and joy.

At our nursery school, mealtime is a celebration of love, nourishment, and happy tummies! We take pride in preparing all meals with wholesome, nurturing ingredients, inspired by our cherished homemade recipes that the children absolutely adore. With a perfectly balanced menu that changes monthly, we keep mealtime exciting and nutritious.

Here’s an example of one week’s menu:
  • Monday: French Toast with syrup, fresh fruits and crudités
  • Tuesday: Macaroni and Cheese with Butternut Mash, Peas, fresh fruit and crudités
  • Wednesday: Toasted Ham & Cheese triangles with fresh fruit and crudités
  • Thursday: Delicious Lasagna with Hidden Veggies, fresh fruit and crudités
  • Friday: Homemade Cheeseburgers with Oven-Baked Chips, fresh fruit and crudités

We are also a NUT-FREE nursery school and take allergies seriously, working closely with families to ensure every child’s dietary needs are met with care and consideration. Here, every bite is made with love, and every mealtime is a moment of joy

We follow strict protocols to ensure a healthy and safe environment for all children. To protect everyone, children cannot attend school if they are unwell or have had a fever, they must be symptom-free for at least 24 hours before returning. If a child becomes ill at school with a fever or any contagious symptoms, we will immediately contact the parents. If we cannot reach them, the emergency contact will be called, and the child will need to go home as soon as possible to maintain a safe space for all. It is the parent’s responsibility to collect their child promptly.

For minor injuries, we document the incident on our accident report and communicate with parents. However, in the case of a more serious injury, such as a significant fall or facial injury that may require stitches, we will urgently contact parents to come and collect their child. For major injuries, we will first call for an ambulance and then contact the parents immediately. Your child’s safety and well-being are our top priority and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our school a safe place for everyone.

Morning Drop-off Bay Plan:

  • Drop-Off Bay Usage: We have space for three vehicles in the Drop-Off Bay.
  • Car 1: Enter the path from Entrance 1 and park, leaving enough room for Cars 2 and 3 behind you.
  • Car 2 & Car 3: Park in order, ensuring a smooth flow as families drop off their children.
  • Departure: Once Cars 1, 2, and 3 have brought their children in, they can leave, allowing the next car to enter. This sequence will help keep traffic moving for the following families.

  • Yielding on Arrival: When arriving from Hibiscus Road into Wisteria Road, please yield to any vehicles waiting in the opposite lane. This will help maintain a smooth flow for everyone.

General

We believe that parents are a vital part of our family and team. Your involvement is key to creating a fun, vibrant and supportive community. We have a class mom group for each class, helping with activities and fun events and providing valuable assistance throughout the year. We also host regular events like family picnics, Easter Egg Hunts, Father’s and Mother’s Day celebrations, Grandparents’ Family Days, Christmas parties, and much more. Together, we create a joyful, connected experience for our children and families.

We provide detailed progress reports in the second and last terms, giving you a clear picture of your child’s milestones and their development. These reports are carefully crafted to highlight how much your child has grown, and we take great pride in the effort we put into tracking their progress. If we ever notice that a child may need some extra support in a specific area, we’ll reach out to you and work together to provide the best solution. We also have a trusted occupational therapist available at the school who can offer specialized services if needed. We’re dedicated to helping every child flourish in their own unique way.

We celebrate the beauty of language by offering a dual-medium education in both Afrikaans and English! Our Little Owls and Owls classes are bilingual, giving children the best of both worlds. Our Hummingbird class is an English class for friends turning four and five, while the Hasie class is purely Afrikaans, welcoming our friends turning four and five. We believe in embracing all cultures and languages and we welcome families from all backgrounds to join our vibrant, diverse school community. Whether you’re a master of one language or both, there’s a place for everyone to grow, learn, and have fun.

We understand that potty training is a big milestone, and we’re here to assist and support each family through the process. Every child is different, and we keep an eye out for those special cues that show they’re ready. When the time comes, we work closely with families, offering guidance and helping in every way we can to make the process smooth and positive. Our goal is to have all our friends potty trained by the time they turn three, but we always approach each child’s journey with love, patience, and understanding. Potty training is an important part of growing up, and we’re here to make it a fun and stress-free experience for everyone.

We make things easy by charging a once-off Operating Fee per year at the beginning of the year, which covers all the essentials like toiletries, tissues, wet wipes,  and stationery such as glue, prints, crayons, and pencils, everything we need to keep the classroom running smoothly. This allows us to purchase high-quality products and ensure we’re always prepared for each fun-filled day. The only exception is for our little friends still in nappies, they’ll need to bring their own nappies, wipes and cream. This way, we keep things simple and ready for all the learning and play ahead.
